Thought provoking article . However, as regards to the intervention of the army , I beg to differ as to bring the situation of taking over by army is due to the incompetency of our political leadership . You see , Pervez Musharraf was compelled to come in as he was sacked while he was boarded on a plane . This unceremonious and disgraceful sacking of army chief compelled his colleagues to resort to “counter coup” . Had the plan of them PM been successful , it would have brought a bad name of army and its respect would have been damaged to unimaginable extent . Agreed, army is subservient to the civilian government and PM has the legitimate right to sack any of his subordinate at his will and wish but there is a renowned way of doing that . If Gen Musharraf had become “persona non grata” , the Ministry of defence should have been directed to prepare his papers or on his arrival , he would have been called in the office by PM and over a cup of tea, his resignation asked for . The army has no lust for power and that has been exhibited by the successors of Gen Musharraf . Please analyse it in true perspective .

Thanks for your comments. The most unfortunate part of our society is that if you talk against a General’s personal corruption, it amounts to raising finger against the whole Army and there you are an anti national element. If you protest against personal character of a Mullah, there you are out of the circle of Islam. If you condemn a individual corruption of a politician, you shall be declared as the enemy of democracy and so on…To add insult to injury no segment is ready to admit that it has ever done anything wrong; everyone raises finger against everyone else… Let’s admit the fact that we all have ruined this country and it can only be brought back to normal if we all join hands to do so and that can only be done if we go according to the mandate given by the constitution…
